Our Kalamkari Bag is the perfect size and shape for everyday use. Made by artisans in Southern India, this fair trade bag combines three different art forms of hand block printing, hand-weaving, and hand-embroidery.
The block-printing style is known as “kalamkari” and involves printing the fabric with natural plant-based dyes using wooden blocks and then filling in the details with hand painting.
The blue fabric is hand-woven in the mangalgiri weaving style, and then fine hand-embroidery is done by women artisans. Truly a work of art, the making of these handmade bags provide fair trade work to artisans in 3 different areas of South India.
