Palo Santo, or "Holy Wood," is a tree that grows on the coast of South America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. The wood in this ethically sourced Palo Santo pack is harvested after the branches have fallen to the ground naturally; the trees are not damaged while sourcing.

Palo Santo is an aromatic wood that has been used for centuries by the Incas and other cultures as a spiritual remedy. When used for incense and smudging it creates a pleasant, fresh smelling smoke with hints of mint and citrus and underlying notes of frankincense. Its smoke is thought to purify the environment and leaves a relaxing feeling. It is known to have many benefits

  • Pack of 5 sticks and size of sticks may vary between 3.75" to 4.25".
  • Approximate weight is 2 oz.
  • Ethically sourced! Peruvians harvest fallen branches and twigs of the B. graveolens tree, a practice that is regulated by the government of Peru, so trees are not cut for wood harvesting.

New to smudging? Begin by purchasing one of our botanicals. The two most popular are Palo Santo and White Sage. Hold a flame to the botanical until it begins to burn, then blow out and place it in the smudging bowlabalone shell or incense holder.* Let the botanical smolder. The smoke that fills the air is what you use to smudge in your space. You can simply walk around the area that you want to smudge, carefully waving the botanical in the air and letting the smoke fill the space.

What to say when smudging a home? We recommend chanting a mantra or Om. You may also simply think positive thoughts and imagine you are filling the space you are “clearing” with love and light. Carry the abalone shell with you as you smudge so that the ashes fall in it. You may need to relight the botanical bundle and repeat until you have gone through the whole area. Don’t forget to smudge corners and tight spaces as that is where stale energy or negative energy can collect. Once you are done, relax in your newly smudged space and allow the peace to flow in.
